I thought I would have a little play with some drawings I have done to help decide colours and patterns. The fashion collection illustration began with me experimenting with the new figure I had been developing, I was quite pleased with it so i thought I'd try and develop first ideas for a collection. They still need work, but from last month to this month i am please with the progress.
Over the last month or so I have been trying to improve my fashion drawings/ illustrations as I would like to be able to draw my ideas as quickly as possible. However I have felt i have been struggling to draw something I am totally happy with.
For Christmas I was given a small sketchbook with a Liberty print fabric on the cover. Inspired by my boyfriend drawing from a 'How to draw Manga' book I had got him for Christmas, a book which I never thought to use myself, I began to copy one of the images from the book.. This turned in to 2, 3 , 4 . .15, 16. I began altering parts of the images I was copying to my style making me think back to my fashion illustrations. when i began drawing these images I was just doing them because I wanted to but it began to evolve into thoughts of how to turn them into fashion illustrations with my garments.. This led to drawing garment ideas, from my new 'Pattern Magic' book, on this new style of figure. As I continued I liked what I was drawing a lot more than my previous, more realistic, fashion illustration techniques. Maybe I was trying to combine two ideas which were clashing previously. Although these illustrations seem to be turing out a lot better than I could have thought there is still a long way to go. I would like to continue to develop tis style of drawing, using garment designs I wish to make.
It seems a little inspiration can go a long way and an end result is not always necessary..
