Having just heard about Ray Stitch and with my constant curiosity for fabric and haberdashery shops I had to go and have a nosy. What a delightful shop, not to put down other shops but a lot of them don't seem to have been brought up to date, but Ray Stitch seems to have made a store which really feels up to date and inspiring. The idea to sell organic fabrics is wonderful, they're not even very expensive but they're so soft to touch. I then stumbled upon this lovely fabric with birds on, I had to get it. I thought of either making some cushions with a lovely plain pink cotton baking to contrast the grey or a skirt . . . or both. So obviously I went for both which I am now in the process of making in amongst all the other projects. Before making the skirt I wanted to see what it could look like and to check it wasn't going to look silly. So i have draped it on my mannequin pinning it as if it were a skirt. Now I just need to make the pattern and a toile to make sure the fits perfect before cutting this divine fabric. I just love how the birds are printed on the fabric to look like they're flying away, to me it really works for this shape skirt. I hope the final garment is as good as I image in my head.
